The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County is planning a program for Wednesday that aims to explore how the League can work with other community groups to promote civic knowledge and engagement. Guest speakers for the program will be Jill Meaux and Amanda Gesing, who will help the League discover ways to coordinate with their organizations to further civic participation.
Meaux is a grant writer for Girl Scouts of WNY and has been employed with GSWNY since 2023. She is also a volunteer troop leader. We will have a conversation with her on how we can help young people take an interest in their community and government, and help scouts earn their badges in civics.
Gesing has been executive director of the YWCA in Jamestown for the past six years. "YWCA Jamestown is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all." Gesing will share how the YWCA is involved in civic issues, and how the League can help with their mission.
The program will begin at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist meeting house at 222 Temple St, Fredonia. League of Women Voters members are encouraged to attend, and the public is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
