Locals at Library planned at Institution

In conjunction with Smith Memorial Library, The Friends of Chautauqua Writers’ Center (FCWC) is proud to announce a new weekly summer program – Locals at the Library. Every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., local authors will be on the library’s front porch with their books to sell and sign. “This program is a great opportunity for authors and readers to meet informally without the pressure of a book reading and at a place where lovers of literature naturally go,” said Fred Zirm, FCWC president. Battery storage company buys property in Dunkirk

A company that is looking to place a Battery Energy Storage System in the northern end of the county has bought property, even though no final approvals have been made. According to real estate documents at the Chautauqua County Clerk’s Office, on April 17 Press Holdings, LLC sold a parcel on Brigham Road to GCI Lighthouse Lando, LLC for $550,000. There are no structures on the property, which is 15 acres and sits between two railroads lines. County bed tax applications accepted starting July 1

Organizations, municipalities, businesses, and entrepreneurs can begin applying for Chautauqua County's 2027 Tourism Product Development Grant Program starting July 1. Applications for programs and initiatives are accepted online annually between July 1 and October 1 for funding in the following year. Projects should help attract visitors, particularly overnight guests and highlight what makes Chautauqua County unique. The Tourism Product Development Grant Program is funded through the county's 5% Occupancy Tax, which is generated from the rental of lodging units within the county. ...
