Two injured in head-on collision
PORTLAND – Two Westfield men were injured in a head-on collision Thursday night, including one who is a popular local country musician.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, Shawn Wilder, 27, of East Main Road, and Patrick Noble, 47, of Creamery Road, collided around 6:15 p.m. on Route 20 in the town of Portland. Deputies said Wilder was traveling west and crossed the center line. Noble, who was traveling east, was unable to avoid Wilder and the two vehicles hit each other head on.
Both Wilder and Noble were transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Charges are pending following an investigation.
Wilder was the 2009 Chautauqua Lake Idol winner. After winning the competition, he spent some time in Nashville and in 2010 was the featured artist for Red Apple/Kwik Fill’s Driving America Tour and Sweepstakes. His CD “The Beginning” was made available at about 300 company-owned stores located in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
He has also performed throughout Western New York at various venues.
