A fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. Friday at 153 Maple Avenue, Cassadaga. A garage-type building that was part of the former Cassadaga Greenhouses caught fire, creating heavy smoke that could be seen across Cassadaga Lakes. Along with Cassadaga, firefighters from Stockton, Sinclairville, Fredonia and Sheridan responded to the scene. Because of the fire, the Cassadaga Maple Avenue BOCES, which is located two houses away, cancelled classes.
