City of Dunkirk, marina owner collaborating to fix harbor docks

OBSERVER Staff Report

Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas and marina lessee Charles Pringle, have agreed to work together to have all docks on the city-owned area of Dunkirk Harbor made ready for the busy boating season.

This collaboration is required to provide enough labor and equipment to address the dock issues caused by record high water levels in Lake Erie.

About 10 acres of the easterly harbor are owned by the city and leased by Pringle. In addition, the pier boat launch is also owned by the city and monitored by Mr. Pringle’s company.

The collaborative work started Wednesday where the easterly docks were addressed by a combination of a small city crew and the full marina crew. The work will move to installing new adjustable-height docks for the boat launch on the westerly side of the pier using the same joint crew.

Mayor Rosas and Charles Pringle would like to thank the boaters for their patience as the dock conditions in the city-owned portions of Dunkirk Harbor are addressed. Both officials wish boaters and fishermen a fun and safe recreational season.
