Dunkirk teen accused in stabbing
ELLICOTT — A stabbing that sent a man to the hospital late Saturday resulted in a felony assault charge against a Dunkirk teenager.
Alec J. Stanley, 18, was taken into custody shortly after Ellicott police and Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were called to a reported stabbing at a residence on Town Line Road. The incident occurred at 11:43 p.m.
At the scene, officers discovered a 38-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times in the arm and once in the back with a kitchen knife.
The victim, who was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., was stable Monday and expected to make a full recovery, Det. Kevin Pierce of the Ellicott Police Department said.
The name of the victim was not released, and Pierce said police have not yet found a motive for the stabbing.
Stanley was charged with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, and held at the Chautauqua County Jail following centralized arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court on Thursday afternoon for a preliminary hearing, a court clerk said.
