SHERIDAN — A motorcyclist received serious injuries in an accident late Friday afternoon.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 5:10 p.m., deputies and the state police responded to a personal injury motorcycle accident on Center Road in the town of Sheridan.

Investigation into the accident revealed that Salvatore Delmonte, 35, of Dunkirk was traveling south on Center Road when he lost control of the motorcycle he was operating. The motorcycle struck the guard rail and then entered the ditch, knocking Delmonte off the motorcycle.

Delmonte sustained serious injuries and was flown to Erie County Medical Center by Starflight.

Investigation into the incident is on-going.
