CLOSE CALL: Truck loses brakes on Route 83

There were no serious injuries after a tanker truck went through the Intersection of Routes 83 and 60 in the town of Pomfret on Friday morning. According to state police, around 11:40 a.m. Wendy Robbins, 49, was operating a 1997 GMC tanker truck on Route 83 when she lost her brakes. She went through the stop sign at Route 60, through the lawn across the street and landed in the creek behind 9495 Route 60, Fredonia. She had minor injuries while her passenger Andre Williams, 51, appeared to be uninjured. They were both taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital. The New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit was called to inspect the truck.
