Cultivating pride: BLOOM project brings color, beautifies Forestville

Special to the OBSERVER

This past spring, the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation announced a new community project geared to “acknowledge those who make our community BLOOM with vibrancy, beauty and color!”

That project was logically called BLOOM, Two local groups, Fredonia Garden Club and Imagine Forestville with the direction and assistance of NCCF, decided to team up to promote this very community based event and chose Forestville as one of the Communities to recognize those residents whom beautified their homes with a garden and that also helped beautify their neighborhood and town!

The time has come to acknowledge the efforts of many residents in Forestville! Imagine Forestville, Fredonia Garden Club and NCCF are so excited to announce the recipients of the Forestville BLOOM Residential Garden recognition for 2019!

The Forestville BLOOM committee of 10, was grouped into three smaller teams of 3-4 members. Each team was assigned certain roads in Forestville including an additional half-mile past the original village boundary, to choose the gardens that met the qualifications set up by NCCF to determine which gardens to nominate. The teams then met to review the nominations and finalize their decision.

Each residential garden recognized was given a BLOOM lawn sign and a thank you bag with gifts from various local businesses. In addition, the NCCF held a raffle of Chautauqua County Chamber Gift Cards for participating homeowners who submitted a BLOOM postcard and Forestville also held a raffle of gift certificates; gift baskets and other gifts from local businesses to homeowners who were recognized.
