Dunkirk grad DeLong gets 2019 Acquavia Memorial Scholarship
Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 Commander David Jagoda presented Zakery DeLong with the 2019 Frank Acquavia Memorial Scholarship. This $1500 scholarship is made possible through a generous donation from the former Frank Acquavia Post 1344 and is open to all veterans or their immediate family in the Dunkirk/Fredonia area who is enrolled in or attending a New York State accredited college.
Zakery is a recent graduate of Dunkirk High School and has completed over 113 hours with JROTC as well as several years of service to the Disabled American Veterans and the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council. He will be attending State University of New York at Oswego in the Fall to pursue his education in Computer Science. Zakery is the son of Kenneth and Christina DeLong of Dunkirk. His eligibility is through his father, Ken DeLong, a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1983-1992.
