Forestville’s summer reading program participants given medal

Forestville Elementary School’s Reading Teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Dunn (back row, left)and Mr. Gary Worosz, (back row, right), along with Elementary Principal, Mrs. Lindsay Marcinelli, (not shown), challenged all students to take participate in the Summer Reading Adventure 2019 – Adventure Awaits! from June 28th – August 31st, 2019.

Students were encouraged to read from 6 of 14 genres, such as: fiction, non-fiction, how-to, mystery, comics, cookbooks, etc.

They also had to read in 10 of 16 different “ways”, such as: -to a pet; -to a grandparent; -when it rained, -in a tent, -to a sibling, -in a silly voice, etc.

Book titles and dates, as well as the parent/guardian’s signatures were required on the reading checklist.

On Friday, September 13th, all students who successfully completed this Summer Challenge were presented with a reading achievement medal of honor and an award certificate.

A total of 39 medals and awards were distributed. Several students completed 14 genres and 16 ways to read, and were given a Summer Reading silicone bracelet and water bottle.
