Dr. Szu-Han Kay Chen

Szu-Han Kay Chen, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at the State University of New York at Fredonia, received the 2019 Advancing Academic-Research Careers (AARC) Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

The award is intended to support the academic and research career of junior-level faculty in the field of communication sciences and disorders.

Dr. Chen earned a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. From 2016 to 2017, Chen worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) language data sciences and implementation.

Her research interests include Language Technologies and data sciences for AAC intervention, Performance measurement, and Chinese AAC research and development
