Park appointed as Villenova town supervisor

Yvonne Park

VILLENOVA — A familiar face is returning to her former position as town supervisor.

Richard Ardillo, supervisor for the town of Villenova, submitted his resignation in a letter on Aug. 31. The letter was shared at the regular town board meeting Wednesday. In it Ardillo states “in the past couple of years, I have faced many personal and professional life which has limited the time I am available to serve the town. I do not believe that I have the time to dedicate to the town that this position requires.”

Following the resignation, Yvonne Park, deputy supervisor, who was present at the meeting, also resigned as a board member. She was then, through a prefiled resolution, appointed to the supervisor position and Donald Chase, was later appointed as a town board member.

Park had been a member of the Villenova Town Board for more than 30 years when she resigned in 2015. She served as town supervisor for 16 years.

Park returned as a councilmember after winning the 2018 election.

On Wednesday, the standing room only crowd was tenuous at best, as the events were carried out.

Park will serve out the remainder of Ardillo’s four-year term, ending Dec. 31 of this year. Chase, the same.
