BUSTI — An investigation remains ongoing after a woman was killed in a crash involving a Chautauqua County snow plow Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department, the crash took place on Big Tree Road in the town of Busti. Police and firefighters from the Lakewood and Busti fire departments responded to the scene.

Police learned that a vehicle had been struck by the plow, and that a passenger was trapped inside.

Hydraulic rescue tools were used to remove the vehicle’s roof “in an attempt to free the passenger,” the Lakewood-Busti Police Department said in a news release.

“Due to the severity of the accident, the passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the department said.

No further injuries were announced.

The woman’s name was not released as of Wednesday. Lakewood-Busti police said further information will be released at a later time.
