The name of the child who died in a horrific accident Monday afternoon has been released.

According to State Police, Emmaline A. Wilcox, 7, and the 35-year-old driver, both of Cassadaga, were both in a 2016 Kia which was traveling north on Rt. 60 when it was rear-ended by a 2009 Hyundai when they were attempting to make a left into a parking lot. The Kia was pushed into the southbound lane and the vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer.

The two Cassadaga residents were transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital. Emmaline was pronounced deceased while the operator was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No other names have been made public. The investigation by police is continuing.

Emmaline was a first-grade student at Sinclairville Elementary School. On the Cassadaga Valley’s website, the school superintendent noted that counselors would be available for the next few days. “Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with the family and all those impacted by this tragedy at this difficult time,” the website read.

Meanwhile, Emmaline’s aunt April Hainley of North East, Pennsylvania set up a gofundme account to assist the family with funeral expenses. As of Tuesday night, nearly $12,000 had been donated. To contribute, go to www.gofundme.com and search “Emma’s final resting costs and other expenses.”
