Brocton woman killed in Thursday crash
A Brocton woman died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation into the collision remained ongoing. Volunteer firefighters from Sheridan were called at about 2 p.m. to the intersection of South Roberts and Center roads for a report of a crash involving a sedan and propane truck.
In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said Henrietta Graziano, 85, was east on South Roberts Road when she reportedly failed to see a northbound tanker approaching on Center Road. The tanker, hauling propane and being operated by 52-year-old Manuel Esquilin-Gonzalez of Dunkirk, struck the sedan at the intersection. The tanker overturned and came to rest on its side after the collision.
Graziano was airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., where she was later pronounced dead, the Sheriff’s Office said Friday. Esquilin-Gonzalez was transported by ambulance to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk; the severity of his injuries was not reported.
Members of the Chautauqua County Hazmat team responded to the intersection for a reported spill. South Roberts and Center roads near the accident were closed to traffic so the vehicles could be removed.
No charges will be filed, the Sheriff’s Office said.
