Fredonia nearing decision on new superintendent

The Fredonia Central School district is one step closer to hiring on a new superintendent.

This week, the district conducted final interviews with three individuals who being considered to possibly fill the position. Each candidate met with the stakeholder groups as well as the Board of Education for final review.

According to Fredonia school board President Brian Aldrich the district is looking to have the new superintendent in place by Dec. 1 with an announcement of the chosen candidate targeted for Nov. 10.

Jeffrey Sortisio, who was hired by the district in June 2017, resigned in May to take the top position in the Eden Central Schools. He was replaced with interim Superintendent Dr. Colleen Taggerty in late June.
