Fredonia offers ‘deep appreciation’ for Roger Pacos

Fredonia Mayor Doug Essek is looking to dedicate the trustee’s room at Village Hall in Roger Pacos’ name.

“I would like to ask the trustees’ thoughts on this to dedicate the trustee’s room and name it in his honor for his many years of dedication and service to the youth of our village,” Essek said at that the Village Board meeting Monday, further offering that this could be discussed at later meetings.

In a proclamation read earlier by Essek he stated, “Roger Pacos served our village for many years in different capacities and demonstrated his dedication for the welfare and wellbeing of his fellow citizens and the youth of our community and his involvement in various areas of village government. Therefore in recognition of Roger’s many contributions to our village and its citizens, hereby express our deep appreciation for his dedication for the village of Fredonia, its residents and youth. We extend to his family our sincere condolences upon his passing and furthermore we would like to honor Trustee Roger Pacos, respected fellow public servant that will be greatly missed.”

As Essek read his statement, the camera of the meeting panned to Pacos’ empty seat, draped in black cloth, featuring only his nameplate. The proclamation further named Nov. 16, 2020 as Trustee Roger Pacos Day in the village of Fredonia.

Pacos passed away on Nov. 1 following a brief illness.
