Project to give away food throughout March
Outpouring of love
The Outpour Project is running a Food for Families event every Saturday in March starting this weekend.
Families can go to the church and pick up two to four food boxes, which will contain roughly a week’s worth of food including vegetables, produce, fruit, meat and a gallon of milk.
“We gave out 2,000 boxes last Saturday and will be giving out 3,800 this Saturday at 10 a.m.,” Pastor Erika Lopez said. “Many churches and organizations have been reaching out to us to pick up food to give out in different areas of the county. We are excited to continue to get food throughout the county.”
The events start at 10 a.m., but Lopez said cars have been lining up as early as 7 a.m.
“With one trailer we limit two boxes per car with two trailers we will limit four boxes per car,” Lopez said. “We ask that people take a box and give one to their neighbors. We decided to start limiting the amount of boxes so that we do not have to turn people away.”
Lopez noted that walk-ups are also welcome as many people that they serve don’t have vehicles and walk-up instead with shopping carts to pick up boxes.
The Outpour Project is located at 61 E. Fourth St. in Dunkirk.
