CASSADAGA — John Sipos has served as the Cassadaga Village Historian for 16 years, being appointed in 2005.

Sipos keeps historical records of the village which include research, sharing history, and maintaining records for the future.

At a recent village board meeting, Sipos presented his annual report to Mayor William Dorman along with some copies of Cassadaga articles.

During the pandemic this past year, Sipos did not present any historical speeches, but used Facebook to present historical information to others. Sipos also showed one of his many notebooks of records which he maintains for history. Sipos is a member of the Government Appointed Historians of New York State, the Valley historical Society,

The Chautauqua County Historical Society, and the Chautauqua County Genealogical Society. Keeping records is a major part of this position, Sipos said.
