Silver Creek scouts make Lakeshore a pet project

Girl Scouts Karli Deet, Nora Pantano, and Elizabeth Ball of Troop 20069 recently earned their Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award for girls in their age group. After raising close to $6,000, they purchased a feral cat kennel and donated it to the Lakeshore Humane Society. They hope that feral cats can now be taken to the Humane Society to be cared for and neutered, thus reducing the feral cat population.

With the excess monies raised, they purchased items from the Lakeshore Humane Society’s wish list which included leashes, collars, laundry soap, paper towels, dog and cat toys, chews, treats, cleaning supplies, cat litter boxes, bedding, and cat condos.

The girls’ ingenuity and skill in setting goals, fundraising and in working with the Lakeshore Humane Society to achieve their goal certainly make them worthy of the Girl Scout Silver Award.
