Harvard graduate commissioned as U.S. Navy Ensign

Morgan Whitten

Morgan Whitten of Stuttgart, Germany graduated from Harvard University on Thursday, May 29 and was commissioned the day before as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Constitution in Boston Harbor.

She is the granddaughter of John and Beverly Ruska of Sheridan. Her mother is Karen Ruska who grew in Dunkirk and graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1982 and her father is Brian Whitten is a native of North East, Pa., and a retired Naval Captain.

Whitten majored in Environmental Science and Public Policy with a language citation in French. She was a leader in the Harvard Outing Club and a news department director for Harvard Radio Broadcasting.

She was elected for active duty station, in Nuclear Power School in Charleston, S.C.
