Gowanda police arrest woman six more times

GOWANDA — A woman who has a history of being arrested in Gowanda has been arrested several more times this month.

Abigail R. Kennedy, 21, of 104 Fifth St., Olean was arrested six times between July 10 and July 23. The OBSERVER previously reported she had been arrested five other times between June 25 and July 9.

On July 10 Kennedy was charged with criminal tampering after she allegedly smeared peanut butter on the front window of a closed business on West Main Street. Police said they identified her using security cameras.

On July 13 at 1:30 a.m. Kennedy was charged with third-degree criminal tampering after she was allegedly observed by police smearing peanut butter on the front window of a closed business.

Around four hours later Kennedy was allegedly observed smearing peanut butter on the front window of the police station door. Officers said she was previously told to stay away from the police station unless her presence is due to an emergency. She was charged with third-degree criminal tampering and trespassing. During the arrest, police said she intentionally kicked an officer three times and was additionally charged with second-degree harassment.

Still on July 13 at 10:15 p.m. Kennedy was again allegedly observed smearing peanut butter on the front window of the police station. Police said she attempted to flee but was captured after a short foot chase. She was charged with third-degree criminal tampering and resisting arrest.

On July 15 at 1:15 a.m. police said they observed Kennedy smearing ketchup, mustard and barbecue sauce on the front window of a closed business on West Main Street. She was charged with third-degree criminal tampering.

On July 23 at 12:40 p.m. Kennedy was allegedly observed smearing butter on the front window of the police station door. She was charged with third-degree criminal tampering and trespassing.

For all of the incidents she was issued appearance tickets and released each time. For the West Main Street incidents she was ordered to appear in Persia Town Court. For the police station incidents she was ordered to appear in Collins Town Court.

In 2018 she had been arrested eight times for similar incidents.
