Festivals Fredonia’s annual “Miracle on Main Street” festival is set for Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a rocking ugly sweater/shirt contest and party from 9 p.m. until midnight at Coughlan’s Pub.

But first, celebrate Small Business Saturday and then all week long, coined Small Business Week, in a partnership with the Fredonia Community Chamber of Commerce.

This Saturday, during the week and up to the festival, visit as many participating shops as possible all week long to see what kinds of specials they will be having and get your official Miracle on Main Street “punch card” and brochure, listing all the participating businesses and get it validated by the shops. Visit at least 12 businesses, bring the validated “punch card” to Miracle on Main Street and hand it in at the Festivals Fredonia table for a special drawing of a $100 Shoptauqua gift card at the end of the festival.

End a great Small Business Week with the “Miracle on Main Street” festival. After performances by Collage Performing Arts Center, Danza and Infinity dance troupes and a short parade, join us for the official lighting of the tree by Santa Claus.

The miracles throughout Dec. 4 include:

¯ Sharing through the Salvation Army “Red Kettle” campaign and “giving” tree hats and gloves drive; all day.

S¯ The holiday at Fredonia Christ Community Church all day with a parade and Santa lighting the tree at 6 p.m.

¯ Giving with the Community Give Back recipient being the Fredonia Trolley Fund.

¯ The generosity of those who support Festivals Fredonia throughout the year.

The festival and events kick off at 10 a.m. Dec. 4 with activities throughout Barker Common Park, Fredonia Grange 1 and Fredonia First Methodist Church. The Fredonia Elementary Choir will be in the park and Fredonia Grange1 at various times throughout the day, adding some holiday music to the festivities.

There will be a story time with Santa for youngsters at the Barker Library, story time with Mrs. Claus at the Next Chapter Bookstore, Friends of Darwin R. Barker Historical Museum will be hosting a gingerbread house contest to promote awareness of the museum, as well paper ornament making for the kids. There will also be gift bags at the Darwin R. Barker Library for children as well.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring new or gently used hats and gloves to hang on the “giving” tree to benefit Partners In Kind of Chautaqua County and Fredonia Central School.

Craft vendors and kid’s craft time will be set up in Fredonia Grange No. 1 starting at 10 a.m., visits with Santa will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Festivals Fredonia is hosting a basket raffle in Fredonia Grange 1 as well; proceeds to go toward the annual “Community Give Back” program. Additionally, there will be an “ugly sweater/shirt” contest throughout the day. Register at the Festivals Fredonia table by 2 p.m., and winners to be announced at 2:30.

There will also be kettle corn, food vendors, wineries, as well as family friendly menus at Domus Fare and Duper’s Restaurant. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from 1 to 4 p.m. to and from the park (fee; part of proceeds benefit Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care) and then for the parade and deliver Santa to the gazebo.

Santa ends his visit at 3 p.m at the Grange, but returns at 5 p.m to lead the parade, arriving in Barker Common shortly after to light the official holiday tree. Immediately following the lighting of the tree, Festivals Fredonia’s annual give back donation will be presented to Fredonia Trolley Fund at the gazebo.
