Total loss: Morning fire destroys town of Charlotte home
A town of Charlotte woman was being assisted by the Red Cross after fire destroyed her home early Thursday.
Sinclairville firefighters were alerted to the blaze on Rood Road just before 5 a.m. First responders from surrounding departments provided assistance.
Photographs posted to social media showed flames shooting from the roof of the residence.
A neighbor stated that the occupant of the home was alerted to the fire by her dog; both reportedly escaped by exiting a bedroom window.
An investigation found that the fire was caused by a “compromised electrical cord and outlet” behind a dryer, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.
No injuries were reported. The property was deemed a total loss, the Sheriff’s Office said.
