BROCTON — When Mayor Art Miller stepped down in the middle of May, village Trustee Craig Miller, as the deputy mayor, had to step into the role. As of this week, Miller has accepted a full promotion.

The Village Board unanimously approved Miller to serve as the mayor of the village at a special meeting on Monday night. To fill Miller’s spot on the board, Miller nominated Dave Hazelton to serve as trustee. Hazelton has been a volunteer firefighter for 45 years, and has done EMS for 35 years.

Hazelton also is the former mayor of Brocton, now coming back to help serve the village once again. Miller thanked Hazelton for coming back to help the village out. “Thank you for stepping up and caring about the Village and wanting to help us here,” said Miller.

The next meeting of the Village Board will be on Wednesday, July 20 at 6 p.m.
