Practical Nursing Program celebrates graduates

ASHVILLE — The E2CCB Practical Nursing Program at the Hewes Educational Center recently celebrated the accomplishments of 19 students during its graduation ceremony.

Those in attendance heard from Commencement Speaker, Jim Sherry, M.D., Ph.D., Executive Director of the Chautauqua Health Network & Professor of Health Policy and Management Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy City University of New York.

“We’re here to welcome you to a licensed health profession and to challenge you to improve them,” said Dr. Jim Sherry. “What you’ve chosen is a path to service … others will look at you differently, and you also need to look at yourself differently, because this is a new set of responsibilities and challenges that you’re taking on.”

Graduates included Karly M. Beaujean, Nadilene B. Calica, Erica A. Cornelius, Autumn R. Edson, Melanie L. Gifford, Paige A. Green, Adrianna N. Heary, Erica L. Hendrickson, Riley S. Hornburg, Kortney J. Koterass, Courtney L. Nicholas, Carol A. Pence, Alicia L. Rainey, Destane R. Rockwell, Amber L. Royce, Havalynn N. Saunders, Savanah M. Seybold (Salutatorian), Lindsey M. Stow (Valedictorian), and Lisa A. Strudwick.

Scholarship winners included: Northern Chautauqua Regional Community Foundation Marianne Carpenter Scholarship: Kortney Koterass; E2CCB Educational Foundation Robert Guiffreda Memorial Scholarship: Karly Beaujean; Joan C. Chiappetta Scholarship: Paige Green; Marguerite E. Nelson Scholarship: Karly Beaujean; and the Jamestown School of Practical Nursing Scholarship: Erica Hendrickson.
