Hanover to hold public hearing for fire contracts

HANOVER — On a beautiful Friday afternoon, the Hanover Town Board chose to spend a few minutes together inside a board room to address town business before enjoying the rest of their afternoon.

Hanover recently held a special meeting to call for a public hearing at the Nov. 14 Town Board meeting. The public hearing, set for 7:35 p.m., will be regarding the town’s fire protection contracts.

Among the contracts the town is set to renew include District 1: Forestville $35,204; District 2: Hanover Hose $59,216, Perrysburg Fire $2,500, Sunset Bay Fire $37,579, Forestville $30,501, and Silver Creek $71,297; and District 3: Sunset Bay Fire $62,469.

The town is also entering in a new agreement with Irving Fire District as part of District 2 for $57,514.

The payment on these proposed contracts will come after the town receives tax monies from the tax collector. The public hearing on this matter will be at the last meeting prior to the deadline to adopt the town’s budget on Nov. 20.

Hanover also set its trick-or-treating hours for 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Town of Hanover will now revert back to one Town Board meeting per month — at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month — throughout the winter months.
