Hanover approves 2023 town budget
HANOVER — The Town of Hanover officially approved its 2023 town budget at this month’s meeting of the Town Board. But before the board unanimously voted to accept the budget, one adjustment was made in favor of the town.
A public hearing was held regarding the town’s various fire protection contracts. The town budgeted for a 3 percent increase across the board above the rates from the previous year in the preliminary budget. As it turned out, the rates across the board were only 1 percent higher than the previous year.
While the fire protection contracts still cost more than a year ago, compared to the figures reflected in the preliminary budget, the town has a lower expected cost. In total, the decreases from the expected cost reflected in the preliminary budget totaled $8,307.
Also at the recent town meeting, Town Supervisor Todd Johnson presented Aimee Rogers of Imagine Forestville with a sign for the Forestville Hiking Trail. The trail opened on July 9. “(Johnson) promised us at that time, he was going to do this, and he did,” Rogers said. “Thank you to all for that.”
