Silver Creek hires new music teacher
SILVER CREEK — When it comes to music, receiving applause is not out of the ordinary. But recently, Cassandra Koch received applause from a special audience as it relates to her musical talents – the school district she now works for.
Koch was appointed as a music teacher within the Silver Creek Central School District at the most recent Board of Education meeting. She was applauded and welcomed from district administrators and board members at the meeting.
Koch studied Music Education at the Fredonia School of Music. Her first day at Silver Creek took place on Halloween.
“Cassandra went through a pretty arduous interview process through our elementary and we’re really, really excited and happy to have her,” said Superintendent Todd Crandall.
Also at the recent meeting, Crandall recognized the members of the school board by reading a proclamation from Gov. Kathy Hochul declaring School Board Recognition Week. Crandall passed out gift baskets to members of the board which were put together with the help of Superintendent’s Secretary and Deputy District Clerk Emily Cole.
One of the items Crandall highlighted in the gift basket was a customized Silver Creek Central School Board Member keychain. Crandall called the keychains “invaluable” to the laughter of the members and the audience.
