Missing snowmobiler found dead in creek

SHERMAN – A Sherman man who was reported missing to Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies at about 11 a.m. Friday was found in a creek and, officials say, apparently drowned.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report Kyle A. Chimera, 31, of 3215 Marks Road had been snowmobiling late Thursday and early this morning and never returned home. A search of the state Corridor Trail 4 was made and Chimera’s snowmobile was found to have traveled off the marked trail system when it struck a bush near a creek.

When Chimera attempted to get off the vehicle, he fell into the creek The coroner ruled the death was an accidental drowning.

Sheriff’s snowmobile patrol, K-9 division and investigation department as well as state police and Sherman Fire-Rescue assisted in the search.
