PORTLAND -- When called to the scene of an altercation on Webster Road and Route 380 early Sunday, Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies found themselves responding to a stabbing.
According to a report, investigation found Loren E. Johnson, 30, of Fredonia got into an altercation with another individual around 2:45 a.m. and during the fight he stabbed that individual with a knife. Johnson fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival, but was found a short time later and taken into custody without incident.
He was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana at that time and was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana as well as second-degree assault.
Johnson was arraigned in Portland Town Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail.
