Fredonia appoints superintendent stakeholder groups

Several stakeholder groups tasked with interviewing for the Fredonia Central School District’s top position are now in place.

Board of education members on Tuesday unanimously approved a list of individuals to serve in the stakeholder groups. The individuals will conduct interviews of superintendent candidates on May 31, June 1 and June 5.

The committees are as follows:

¯ Central Administration: Laura Pless and Wendy Heslink.

¯ Support Staff: Doug Essek, Cindy Gloff, Rebecca Hemenger, Colleen Kubera, Kevin Malkowski, Randy Penharlow, Cathy Smith and David Winchell.

¯ Faculty: Andrew Bennett, Erin Clark, Sarah Graham, Michelle Greenough, Linda Kaminski, Hillary Kretz-Harvey, Amy Lauer, Lisa Reinhardt, Kate Sommer and Ben Wendell.

¯ Students: Paige Cronin, Hannah Gullo, Ciara Carlson-Healy, Lindsay Lotter, Hannah Sellari, Owen Nicosia, Diego Rey, Alex Christy, Dawson Bird and Patrick Newell (advisor).

¯ Community: Bethany Abbey, Amy Beers, David Dengler, John Drayo, Lisa Powell Fortna, Cedrick Howard, Jessica Gugino, Julie LaGrow, Erin Mroczka, Edward Romo and Lawrence Spacciapolli.

The board will consider input from the stakeholder groups when it makes the final decision. Whoever is chosen will replace Paul DiFonzo, who retired at the end of March.

Officials hope to publicly name the new superintendent by June 14.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the board approved a bid for general construction contract work — specifically for asphalt reconstruction — as part of this year’s capital outlay exception project. The accepted bid came from Occhino Corp. of West Seneca for $50,947.
