Cassadaga adopts policy, reviews laws

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Village Board examined several local laws at their latest meeting, while considering if one specific law should be repealed at a future meeting.

“The amendment was made to local law #1 of 1986 last meeting, which has to do with the New York State uniform fire code,” said Village Clerk Roxanne Astry in an interview with the OBSERVER following the meeting. “We basically made a new one to replace that old one with the amendment since we received the new New York State uniform fire code.”

With the new laws the standard in New York State, replacing the law is standard policy moving forward. “We reviewed the laws and we’ll likely bring it up next week to consider repealing,” Astry also noted.

In other news, the board adopted the village’s new New York State sexual harassment policy.

Additionally, the board went into executive session to discuss matters of litigation at the end of the regular meeting.

The next meeting of the Cassadaga Village Board will be Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m. at Cassadaga Fire Station 1.
