Dunkirk reopens splash pad

Submitted Photo Pictured turning the final valve on the Dunkirk Splash Pad at Wright Park is James Meyer, city master plumber and plumbing inspector.

With temperatures above 80 degrees and lots of sunshine, Mayor Wilfred Rosas has used his discretionary authority under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s current-phase rules for playgrounds to open the Dunkirk Splash Pad at Wright Park.

All precautions against COVID-19 must be followed and signs will be posted to remind those who visit the pad.

The bathrooms will be sanitized regularly by the Beach Hut proprietor and by the city Parks Division. The splash pad water is pure city water, which includes being filtered at the City plant with granulated activated carbon to remove nearly all traces of particulate and organic matter and chlorination disinfection as prescribed by the American Water Works Association.

Starting at $3.50/week.
