Pacos to head Lake Shore school district

Dan Pacos

Dan Pacos is the Lake Shore school district’s new superintendent.

The Pomfret town supervisor and Fredonia resident, a longtime employee of the district, was promoted by the Lake Shore Board of Education on Tuesday.

“I’m excited about it,” he told the OBSERVER. “The board approached me about it because our current superintendent is retiring.”

Pacos added that he was starting to consider retiring himself, but dropped that because he feels reinvigorated by his new role.

The appointment is effective Dec. 16, the day after the retirement of the current superintendent, Charles Galluzzo.

Pacos has worked for the Lake Shore school district for almost 20 years. The assistant superintendent for administration and finance the last 11 years, he was a business administrator and district clerk prior to that. Pacos has also been a director of finance at Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES. He started his career at the Brocton school district.

In addition to his state school district administrative certifications, Pacos has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNY Fredonia and a master’s in business administration in finance from St. Bonaventure University. He is also a state-licensed accountant.

Starting at $3.50/week.
