BROCTON — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their annual installation banquet at the John W. Dill Post 434, Brocton Legion. It was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased club members. An introduction of the head table was next.
Chautauqua County Executive, PJ Wendel, was scheduled to be the main speaker, but could not attend. Fredonia Mayor, Doug Essek, did a great job filling in for him. He spoke of his community’s effort to secure a spot in the Small Business Revolution, and how people in the county came through with their support. “Failure was not an option,” he said. But, unfortunately, along came the COVID making quite an impact on the area. He also spoke of his personal experiences with the virus. Essek and his wife, Julie, are familiar faces at regular Association meetings, and were grateful for the invitation to attend.
The mayor also administered the oath of office to the 2022 officers. They are Joe Rozen, president, Pat Begier, vice-president, Tom Halicki, treasurer, Jim Pryll, secretary, and trustees Ed “Pinky” Ziegler, Shane Boyle, and Dolores Mauer.
Comments by the president then followed.
