Revitalize Dunkirk ready to roll again, seeking new participants
Revitalize Dunkirk board of directors include, from left: Vice President Jim Enser, Secretary Sharon Neratko, Member-at-Large Steve Rees, Treasurer Chris Pinkoski, and President Jim Fisher.
Although unable to meet in person for most of the past two years, Revitalize Dunkirk’s Board of Directors held elections via mail-in ballots in April last year to fill three board positions as required in its by-laws.
The organization is preparing for another election this April to replace departing board members and is seeking nominations from interested parties.
Following the 2021 election, continuing President Jim Fisher and returning board member Steve Rees were joined by Jim Enser, Sharon Neratko and Chris Pinkoski.
Enser replaced Allen Hollander as vice president; Neratko relieved Nicole Waite as Secretary, and Pinkoski took over as Treasurer from Rees, who moved into an at-large position vacated earlier by Valerie Champlin.
Departing this year are Rees, whose term of office is up, and Neratko, who is resigning due to other commitments. The board, which has long functioned with five members, is seeking not only to replace these two positions, but to field additional nominees for the April election in hopes of seating seven members to help advance Revitalize Dunkirk’s mission.
Candidates who feel they have the interest, time, enthusiasm and talents to assist Revitalize Dunkirk in carrying out its community improvement goals may submit a statement of interest and brief bio to revitalizedunkirk@gmail.com. Membership in Revitalize Dunkirk is required for election to the board and is achieved simply by paying the annual individual dues of $20. Membership forms are available on the website or by contacting the board at the gmail address above.
In-person meetings have resumed this year, but on a different schedule. General membership meetings are now quarterly instead of monthly and currently take place on fourth Wednesdays instead of third Thursdays. The next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk.
All members of the community interested in sharing ideas for invigorating Dunkirk are welcome to attend these quarterly membership meetings or contact us with questions or suggestions at the email address above. Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
