Sorority names its Woman of the Year

Carol Reynolds (left) was named the Laureate Alpha Pi sorority chapter 2021-22 Woman of the Year. She was presented with a trophy and pin by the Former Woman of the Year, Lynn Stetson, at the annual Founder’s Day event.

The Laureate Alpha Pi sorority in Westfield recently closed out their 2021-22 program year and welcomed the newly themed, “Friends at Your Fingertips,” 2022- 23 year.

Final activities for year-end included a delicious Founders Day dinner at Calarco’s restaurant in Westfield with nine sisters and two guests present. The program included a message from the International and a presentation of chapter Woman of the Year. Former Woman of the Year, Lynn Stetson presented Carol Reynolds with a trophy and pin, naming her the 2021-22 Woman of the Year.

A Mother’s Day cultural program was held at the Parkview restaurant hosted by Elena Marsala and Clara Winkelman. Each lady ordered off the menu while Elena presented a bouquet and bookmark honoring mothers. Clara provided each sister with a yellow candy rose.

The final social of the 2021-22 year included a summer pot-luck style family picnic hosted by the executive board. The event was held at Ottaway Park with close to 25 attendees of sisters, their friends, and families. The group had a wonderful time visiting, enjoying the delicious food, and playing games at the scenic lakeside park.

New officers for this program year were installed. Former chapter President Carol Reynolds passed the gavel to Rose Corban. Others will remain in their duties: Gwen Haskin, Vice President; Clara Winkelman, Treasurer and Lynn Stetson, Secretary.

The 2022-23 Beginning Day social and business meeting was held at Clara Winkelman’s home in August to commence the new year. Nine sisters were in attendance. Ice cream sundaes were served by Clara and Lynn on a very pleasant summer evening in Westfield.

The group will meet again in September at the home of Carol Reynolds.
