BROCTON — In recent years, vehicles have been parked illegally on the village of Brocton streets without consequence. That will change soon.
The Village of Brocton Trustees announced at their most recent meeting that beginning Nov. 1, vehicles that are illegally parked on the streets of Brocton overnight will be towed.
The Village Board discussed the need to enforce the parking restrictions at their recent meeting because of the obstacles presented to snow plowing in the winter months. The Village expressed that overnight street parking or parking in the right of way should not be allowed at all at any point in the year, but especially in the winter months.
Some vehicles in the village have gotten away with parking on the road in the past despite the restrictions already in place due to the fact the Village Board was not prepared to strictly enforce the violations. But at the recent meeting, the Village Board decided on a “black and white” course of action where if you park on the street overnight or in the right of way, you will be towed.
The stricter enforcement of parking regulations is expected to last all throughout the winter.
