Donations bolster Trunk or Treat in Fredonia

Submitted photo Fredonia’s parks and recreation director Kayla Sullivan, center, received donations for this Saturday’s Trunk or Treat event from some young representatives of local businesses. Fredonia’s second edition of “Trunk or Treat” was bolstered this week by some last-minute donations.

Mike Hodkin of Hodkin Properties told the OBSERVER that anticipated demand for Saturday’s event outpaced the resources budgeted for it. So his business, Kravitz Tree Service, Chadwick Bay Financial Services and Marsh Underground all offered donations to the Fredonia Recreation Department.

Kayla Sullivan, director of the department, accepted the donations Wednesday night. Hodkin said Thursday that Dunkin’ Donuts also chipped in some funds.

Trunk or Treat will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Russell Joy Park’s upper lot off Howard Street. It’s essentially a motorized version of door-to-door Halloween trick or treating, as families park their vehicles and mingle. Music, dance groups, and cider and doughnuts will be provided.

Tops Markets, Walmart and Tim Hortons are also sponsoring the event.

Starting at $3.50/week.
