Strength in numbers: Dunkirk Seniors plans trips, events for the fall

The Dunkirk Senior Center will be having a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 13. Doors open at 10 a.m. Breakfast consisting of pancakes, ham, sausage and scrambled eggs will be served at 10:30 a.m. Ticket go on sale on Monday, Oct. 24 in the Senior Center office. The cost is $5 per member.

The Oct. 25 trip to Vidler’s is sold out. The bus will leave the Center at 9 a.m. The Nov. 10 trip to Seneca Niagara is sold out. The bus will be leaving the Center at 2 p.m. and returning at 8:30 p.m. The Nov. 29 shopping trip to Erie has a drop-off at Presque Isle for those who don’t want to shop, and lunch at Golden Corral. The bus leaves at 9 a.m. Contact the office for more information. The Dec. 8 trip to Seneca Niagara – those who were on the waiting list for the Nov. 10 trip are automatically signed up for this trip. Payment of $30 by those on the waiting list must be made by Nov. 3.

After that date, the trip will be opened to the general membership.

There will be an AARP Defensive Driving Class on Nov. 14 and 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants must attend both classes. Contact the Senior Center Office for further information.

Medicare Services will be available at the Senior Center for any community member on Oct. 25, 26, Nov. 1, 9 16, 22 and 29, and Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Any community member is welcome to stop by to discuss their health insurance plan. Independent Health will be available at the Senior Center for any community member on Thursday, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to discuss Independent Health Insurance.

The Halloween Party scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26 is sold out. A waiting list is available. Contact the Senior Center office if interested in cell phone, tablet or computer class.

Classes are scheduled twice a month. The next Big Bingo will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9. Doors open at 4 p.m. A light dinner is at 4:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 5 p.m. Dominoes are played on Wednesday at 1 p.m. MahJong is Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Pinochle is Monday and Friday at 1 p.m. Exercise is Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. Shuffleboard will be stopping for fall and winter.
