City man charged after 3 shoplifting incidents
Three separate shoplifting incidents at a Vineyard Drive location has led to charges for a city man who is well known to law enforcement.
New York State Police at Fredonia report they charged Alexander R. Santiago, 47, with two separate counts of third-degree burglary, petit larceny and second-degree obstructing governmental administration on Friday.
Troopers were investigating the incidents at TJ Maxx and identified Santiago as the suspect in all three incidents using their surveillance footage. Santiago repeatedly left the store without paying for the items, which had a total value of $740.
Troopers located Santiago on East Courtney Street in the city of Dunkirk, where he attempted to flee the area but was quickly apprehended and brought into custody.
Santiago had been previously given a trespass notice from the retailer on another unrelated shoplifting incident.
With 49 prior arrests and 18 counts of failure to appear in court, Santiago was transported to Chatauqua County Jail for arraignment and was released without bail.
