18-year-old charged in shooting death
An 18-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of another man late Friday in the town of Ellicott.
Tucker I. Richard is currently in Chautauqua County Jail awaiting arraignment in Ellicott Town Court.
Just after 10 p.m. Friday, officers from the Ellicott and Jamestown police departments were alerted to a reported gunshot victim at 2256 Willard St. Ext. The residence is located just outside Jamestown city limits.
Upon arrival, a male identified as Scott E. Blake, 57, was found dead due to a gunshot wound.
The scene was secured by officers, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office and members of the county’s Forensic Investigation Team. A search warrant was later obtained, “and a full forensic search was conducted,” Ellicott police said Saturday afternoon.
Chautauqua County DA Jason Schmidt drove to the scene. Ellicott Police Det. Kevin Pierce said Richard was detained not long after the incident and remained in police custody.
Richard reportedly lived at the Willard Street Extension home with Blake. The two men were not directly related, police said.
Police said Richard and Blake may have gotten into an argument before the fatal shooting. Richard was initially cooperative with investigators.
An investigation remains ongoing, Ellicott police said.
