Pair waive preliminary hearings in home invasion case

A Jamestown man and Dunkirk woman accused in a home invasion robbery case waived their rights to a preliminary hearing this week in Jamestown City Court.
William R. Buckley and Joneece M. Talley have each been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree conspiracy, second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.
Buckley, 47, and Talley, 29, are accused of forcing their way into the home of a Jamestown woman on Dec. 26. According to the Jamestown Police Department, the pair then allegedly assaulted the woman and held her at gunpoint before taking some of her property.

Talley was taken into custody Dec. 27 while Buckley was picked up after officers entered a Forest Avenue home. As a result of a search warrant, Buckley is facing additional charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Talley, who is being represented by attorney William Coughlin, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Jamestown City Court. She remains in Chautauqua County Jail after bail was set at $500,000 cash, $1 million property bond.
Buckley, who is being represented by the Chautauqua County Public Defender’s Office, waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday before Judge John LaMancuso. He was previously remanded to jail due to past felony convictions .
A preliminary hearing was adjourned for a third person charged in connection to the home invasion, Joshua A. Ryan. The 34-year-old Ryan of Jamestown reportedly drove the vehicle used by Buckley and Talley during the incident.
Ryan, who is being represented by attorney Michael Goldman, is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 11 for his preliminary hearing.
Jason Schmidt, Chautauqua County district attorney, was in Jamestown City Court on Tuesday and Wednesday. Regarding Buckley and Talley, Schmidt said his office plans to move the cases to a grand jury.
