Water District hears update on projects

The North Chautauqua County Water District’s architecture and engineering firm offered a report on the district’s various projects earlier this month.

Eric Wies of Clark Patterson Lee submitted a four-page document to the district’s board summarizing the infrastructure improvements that are getting done.

Notably, a new pump station on South Roberts Road in the town of Dunkirk is near completion. A water main connection to the road and the concrete foundation are done. “Pump station delivery anticipated March 2023,” according to Wies’ report.

The report went on to state that the town of Pomfret’s projects at Van Buren are finalizing bids, easements and design, and are expected to start this year. A specific time in 2023 is not specified, however.

The town plans to modernize the lakeside community’s antiquated water system. It will install close to $2 million worth of mains to serve about 150 residences.

Looking to “Future Projects,” the report notes that town of Sheridan residents are looking into forming a water district. They can do this because Phase 2 of the NCCWD’s long-term construction project brought mains to their area.

“District formation takes 3-5 months. Enough residents now seem interested. Town meeting to be scheduled for discussing process,” the report succinctly states.

Starting at $3.50/week.
