Three receiving honors from Boys & Girls Club

Three significant supporters of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County will be honored during an event in April at the Shorewood Country Club. This year's recipients are: TPS Propane in Silver Creek as friend of the club; Joe Gould for service to the club; and Dunkirk Public Schools as exceptional partner.

"We've had tremendous assistance from every one of our honorees in recent years," said club President John D'Agostino. "They have been willing to lend a helping hand for events and programming and we're grateful for their support."

TPS, Dunkirk schools and Gould will be receiving awards during the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County annual banquet beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, April 21. The evening will include cocktails, a silent auction and dinner. A program, will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a live auction to follow.

Seats for the dinner are available for $70 each and tables of eight are $530.

TPS Propane, located at 1820 West Route 20 in Silver Creek, serves customers in six Western New York counties by offering home heating propane options. It has been a major supporter of the annual golf tournament. Gould, who serves on the club's Golf Commitee, has assisted the club in a number of fund-raising initiatives in recent years.

Dunkirk City Schools has been a partner with the club, especially during COVID-19 when it allowed the organization to offer programming in a number of its district buildings. Today, it allows the club to rent space for its city programming.

"These partnerships allow the Boys & Girls Club to offer after-school and summer program for youth in a number of area communities," D'Agostino said. "We're fortunate for all the support we receive from not only these groups and people, but from so many others who understand the growing need for youth programming."

Located at Dunkirk's School 4, the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County has served our community's children for more than 25 years. Core programs engage youth in activities with adults, peers and family members enabling participants to enhance their self-esteem and develop to their full potential. Based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests of boys and girls, programs and activities are offered in five areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports and recreation.
