Administrators to retire from city schools
A trio of administrators at the Dunkirk City School District are set to retire.
The Dunkirk Board of Education approved the retirements of Daniel Genovese, Al Gens and Constance Meginnis last week.
Genovese, the district’s director of student development, is set to retire June 30. Gens, who is athletic director and attendance supervisor, will part Dec. 30. Meginnis, the secondary school house principal, is leaving Oct. 21.
Board and audience members gave all three an individual round of applause at the meeting.
The school district also made some hires, including nine substitutes.
Zachery Meadows was hired as an office clerk. The substitutes are: Erica Acevedo, teacher aide; Gloria Gonzalez Hernandez, cleaner; Nelvelyn Maldonado Rivera, community school assistant and teacher aide; Alexis Schuman, teacher; Naimadys Soto Collazo, teacher; Alison Spacciapolli, teacher; Ashila Velez Marin, cleaner; Westin VerHoef, teacher; and Ethan Yannie, teacher.
