Back to business: Construction underway for new Five Below site

Photo by Jo Ward Construction began this week on the foyer of a Five Below store located in the town of Dunkirk on Vineyard Drive. The property is owned by Benderson Development.

For those questioning what was going on over near the former Tops location in the town of Dunkirk earlier this week, an answer was provided shortly before a recent Dunkirk Town Board meeting this week.

Dunkirk Town Code Enforcement Officer Ryan Mourer stated via text message that the construction work being done was of the foyer of a future Five Below store in the town. Dunkirk Town Deputy Clerk Kyle Coughlin confirmed the suspicions of various board members when prompted prior to the meeting by relaying Mourer’s message.

The building in question is owned by Benderson Development. It neighbors the Harbor Freight Quality Tools store on Vineyard Drive in the plaza of the former Tops location, across the street from the new Tops location, Kirk’s Jewelers, and various other local businesses.

Five Below is a discount store with a focus on items priced $5 or less. Currently, the closest Five Below location is in Hamburg. Other nearby locations include Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and Erie, Pa.
