BUFFALO — The Dunkirk Falcon Club will have its hand in one of the most unique fundraisers across the world of sports this summer, as the club will sponsor a hockey team for the 2023 11 Day Power Play Community Shift.
The game, which will last for 11 straight days at LECOM Harborcenter in downtown Buffalo from June 21 to July 1, will be played by more than 2,300 hockey players to raise critically-needed funds for important cancer causes in our community.
In just six years, the 11 Day Power Play has raised more than $8.4 million for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Make-A-Wish Western New York, Camp Good Days and Special Times, and the Roswell Park Oishei Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Program.
The Dunkirk Falcon Club team is scheduled to play their shift on Tuesday, June 27 from 9 p.m. through 12 a.m. The team is made up primarily of players from the Dunkirk/Fredonia area and has been participating in this event annually since 2018.
Members of the team include team captain Steve Skrzypek, Jim Rozen, Matt Murphy, Adam Woelfle, Matt Dorler, Robert Helsing, Nick Quattrone, Fred McCabe, Mike McCoy, Tommy Coughlin, Bill Clark, Dan Nickle, Don Brenner, Joseph Cascioli, Joe Yelich, Josh Weller, Mike Ringler, and goaltender B.J. Jakiela.
Team members recently presented the club’s officers with a 11 Day Power Play jersey in appreciation of their support.
